Visiting Wyoming

The Cowboy State rears up for summer fun this time of year. Outdoor adventures await in Wyoming's legendary state and national parks, and communities from Sheridan to Cheyenne to Evanston have more special events, festivals, and family-friendly activities in store than any other season.

This is the season to see Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park at their most beautiful. Cody makes an ideal launch pad for a Yellowstone adventure this summer, while, to the south, Pinedale yields easy access to Teton National Forest and Grand Teton National Park.

Thirsty? The 2016 Wyoming Brewer's Festival invites you to enjoy a bevy of locally produced beers and their perfect food pairings on June 17th and 18th. 2016 marks the 21st year for the annual Cheyenne staple, held this year at the Cheyenne Depot Museum.

On June 18th and 19th, the 2016 Plains Indian Museum Powwow is a cultural festival held at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center of the West in Cody, featuring traditional dances, drum circles, arts and crafts, and more from the Northern Plains tribes. It's an opportunity to find a sense of centuries-old culture, starting at 1 p.m. both days.

Gillette visitors won't want to miss the family-friendly fun on June 24th through 26th, when the 2016 Donkey Creek Festival brings all kinds of arts, music, food, games, vendors, and more to the shores of Donkey Creek, between Gillette College and the Gillette College Technical Education Center. Things get started Friday evening at around 6 p.m.

Mild summer weather means fair season comes early in the Cowboy State. Families in Gillette can head to the 2016 Campbell County Fair for all the fair staples – everything from midway rides and games to 4-H agricultural exhibits, live music, fried food, and more – August 1st through 8th. Make it a full day of fun – the gates are set to open at 9 a.m. each morning.
