Visiting Wyoming

Summer in Wyoming is rodeo season. Across the Cowboy State communities celebrate Wyoming's Old West heritage at rodeos big and small. From the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo and the Wrangler Million Dollar Silver Tour Sheridan Wyoming Rodeo, to the small town excitement of the Hulett Rodeo. Pull on your boots and grab your hat for a wild west Wyoming summer getaway.

Called the "Rodeo Capital of the World," the community of Cody welcomes visitors to the 2014 Cody Night Rodeo June 1st through August 31st. Join in fun like the calf scramble, for kids 12 and under, each evening at 8 p.m. Gates open at 7 p.m. but arrive early to get the kids in the calf scramble. Catch the excitement of the Cody Xtreme Bulls at Stampede Park on June 30th. Cody's Fourth of July rodeo tradition continues in 2014 as the 95th Buffalo Bill Cody Stampede fills Stampede Park. Enjoy world-class rodeo July 1st through 4th at the PRCA's largest one header rodeo.

Rodeo Week 2014 in Sheridan is July 5th through 13th, marking 84 years of summer rodeo fun in Sheridan. Events include the Rodeo Parade, Sneakers & Spurs Rodeo Run, and rodeo performances July 9th through 12th. The 2014 Cheyenne Frontier Days include the Cinch Rodeo Shootout featuring eight champions, in five events competing the afternoon of July 18th.

Experience the Legend of Rawhide in Lusk, July 11th, 12th, and 13th. The 2014 Legend of Rawhide pageant celebrates the history, culture, and Old West heritage of Niobrara County and its communities. The Legend of Rawhide Parade begins at the Niobrara County Fairgrounds Saturday Evening July 13th, before winding down Main Street. The Flag Ceremony and Legend of Rawhide Dance follow the parade on Saturday evening.

Wheatland, 70 miles north of Cheyenne, hosts the 2014 Platte County Fair and Rodeo July 25th through August 2nd. In addition to the traditional Platte County events, exhibits, and rodeo, don't miss the new 2014 Rooster Crowing Contest. Join the fun at the fairgrounds' indoor arena on Tuesday evening, July 29th. Bring your rooster in a cage, or come to enjoy the crowing. Winners are the roosters that crow the highest number of times in 15 minutes.
