Bighorn National Forest

One of the oldest forest lands, protected by the government, is located in Northern Wyoming. Bighorn National Forest encompasses more than 1.1 million acres of land, along the Big Horn Mountains. The forest is approximately eighty miles long and thirty miles wide and ranges in elevation from 5,500 feet to 13,175 feet. The Big Horn River that flows along the forest's west side, provided the inspiration for explorers Lewis and Clark, who named the mountain range after the river.

Covering 1,550 acres, Sheridan County Airport (SHR) is a public airport owned by Sheridan County, and serving the city of Sheridan. Set in northern Wyoming, SHR is served by Great Lakes Airlines, and offers flights to Denver International Airport – plus several flights for general aviation.

Set in the Big Horn Mountains, SHR was established in 1919, and was formerly known as Aviation Field. SHR is a primary commercial service airport, and features two runways and one terminal.
